Usage data for 90% of the trout sector and 100% of the salmon sector were captured in 2018, showing antibiotic usage levels of 13 mg/kg for trout and 6.5 mg/kg for salmon.

Challenges with changing climatic conditions including higher sea temperatures for salmon, and the lack of access to effective vaccines in trout, mean both sectors are continually facing threats from new or other existing diseases which must be managed properly to ensure the fish can remain in good health.
